30 Day Results……….

My Paleo challenge is up. I actually did 4 weeks of strict Paleo, which works out at a little more then 30 days.

So what can I say about my experience………….

I think the first thing that springs to mind is that I found the challenge relatively easy. I had built up an idea in my head of what it would be like, all fussy, boring and tedious.

I couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Instead of spending hours cooking rice, pasta and white potato dishes. Cooking time was far quicker and way more colourful!

It stretched my imagination to create delicious dishes to keep Adrian on side. Although not every dish was a winner I could prob say 90% were tasty and the rest I will put down to experience!!!!

As a new mother I found that cutting out wheat, dairy and gluten had a huge impact on fatigue!!

I wouldn’t have said I was struggling before but I would say it is a lot easier to get through the long days and nights now my diet isn’t so wild.

It was a bit like a a Yo Yo. Up and down a lot, using coffee or sugar to pump me up when I was getting tired or low.

Now although I am still tired it feels more manageable because I don’t have the massive highs making the tiredness that much worse.

My only regret as I have already posted before is that I didn’t start Paleo sooner.

As far as inches lost are concerned I have lost since the 9th January to now……

3.5 inches form my hips and 2.5 inches from my waist.

When I talked about this loss to Sham (my pal who introduced me to all things Paleo) I tried to explain that inches lost seemed a great jump then actual Kilos on a scale. Weird I know but over the course of the 30 days it feels like and looks like my body has done a bit of a Texas shuffle and re distributed fats to give me a much more streamline and slim silhouette.

Sham explained that the best is yet to come……….although I wanted to have regular training in place  during my 30 days, with a baby all best laid plans tend to go to sh*t.

I did a few runs but on a hole my inch loss is purely through diet and pottering around the house with the baby.

With a little bit of training Sham is sure I will be back to my strong crossfit self in no time.

I have yet to see how Paleo will effect my training performance…..I can see a title for a future post in that sentence.

I must omit though I did have a few cheats. Eg wine on 2 or 3 occasions and some dark chocolate so maybe I would have lost more, who knows.

The main thing is that Paleo is here to stay in the Buliga household.

I have already got a couple of my girlfriends hot on my trail after they saw what a change it made in me.

Who would have thought brunch with Sham would have had such a profound effect on my life. Thanks Dude.

With the 30 days over I have had a little blow out in the shape of my fave pizza and have had the odd cappuccino, I am sorry Robb but I love the frothy lovely-ness especially when it’s so cold.

On a whole we will follow a 80-20 rule.

80% Paleo – 20% Naughty

I never said I was perfect folks!!!!!!!!!

So give it a go see how you find the 30 day challenge. If you don’t instantly love it I will eat my shorts!

PS When Adrian is back from work I will dig out my gym kit and post the before and after pictures.

  1. Well done Sally, you sound very upbeat! I think I would find breakfast in a hurry the most difficult – how would you do breakfast paleo-styly just as easy as you would a bowl of cereal?

  2. Darling I find the best recipes on http://www.nomnompaleo.com …. 🙂 I am definitely and 80/20 paleo-er too, and my problem is also with dairy. I can’t resist the odd latte, or the occasional bit of garlic butter, or cheese….

    Luckily I don’t have a sweet tooth but I definitely have a dairy tooth 🙂
